When I was growing up, some of my fondest memories were on a Sunday morning, my mom would make us all an enormous breakfast. It was always special to me because I enjoyed being around my family, and even if I was feeling bad, being around them and eating together would always brighten my day.
On August 14th, 2022, Castle Rock had one of those breakfasts. Thousands of people from the community, along with over 90 volunteers from the Dads of Castle Rock rallied together to raise funds for the families who were impacted in the car crash killing two teens, and severely injuring two others on August 5th, 2022.
Over the course of the four hour breakfast, 10,000 pancakes were made, and an estimated 5,000 members of the community came to not only help raise funds, but come together as a community, raising over $22,000, bringing the total funds raised to over $100,00.
There becomes a point when an organization’s reach extends beyond the members of the group. The Dads of Castle Rock has evolved into a vessel to channel the compassion, generosity, and desire to help for Castle Rock. The pancake breakfast was a testament to the kind of people that make up Castle Rock, and how they truly care about each other.
This fundraiser would not have been possible without the Castle Rock communities, volunteers, and these local businesses who donated supplies, equipment, volunteers: Polidori Sausage, Coast2Coast Meal Prep, Stack’d Food Truck, K And D’s Kitchen, King Soopers, Sam’s Club, Safeway, Starbucks – Castle Rock, Black Rock Coffee Bar, Moore Lumber & Hardware – Castle Rock, Trader Joe’s-Parker,CO, Event Rentals For You, and Propane Shack LLC.
